ERDA, Utah (ABC4 News) – Twenty-four teams for schools across Utah and Nevada ranging from elementary to college-aged are competing in the Utah Greenpower Electric Car Challenge.
The students designed and built their own cars using a solid-edge curriculum showcasing their engineering and technology expertise.
The students were able to race to Utah Motorsports Campus just outside of Tooele.

The event was hosted by the USU Stars! Gear Up and The Governors Office of Energy Development (OED).
The cars come in a kit, but the students manufactured their own outer shells for the car. The only thing the students could not change about their car is the motor and the battery.

USU Stars program is a federal grant-funded STEM program that preps students for college that participates with schools in central and northern Utah, and Nevada. Other support for this event came from USU’s College of Engineering—Sustainable Electrified Transportation Center, and GreenpowerUSA.
